You Can Paint Anything: 31 days

I thrift and yard sale a lot of stuff in our home, which means I have to find a way to make it all match somehow. Which means I quickly learned that you can paint freaking ANYTHING.

Metal? Yes.

Plastic? Yes.

Glass? Still yes.

Furniture? OF COURSE!

All you need is a solid spray paint primer (I like Kilz), because it gives your paint something to adhere to. I suggest you start small with the spray paint until you learn how to really use and control it. Spray prime so things get good coverage quickly, and because it dries fast. Then roll on your actual paint color. I learned that lesson the hard way on my bureau, which means I now need to redo just the top of it.

– Check here for some spray painting tips

– And here for what to do when you inevitably mess up! 🙂

Here’s a whole mess of things I’ve spray painted:

  1. DIY Sunburst Mirror
  2. Dresser redo
  3. Spray painted and glazed accent chest
  4. Spray painted and reupholstered chair
  5. Spray painted shutters
  6. Spray painting a metal mirror

Live Love DIY also has so many great tips on painting furniture, how to do it, what not to do it, and tons of top 10 lists to help.
