When I open decorating magazines, I swooooooon over the luxurious look of rooms. I do the same when I look at most blogs- but there are just some things that will just not be a reality for me.
I have 3 cats and a dog. My cats would knock every single thing off those open shelves, one by one, and then scratch the crap out of that rug. My yellow dog would hop on that velour couch and rub his hairs all over it, then probably chow down on just the corner of one of those delicious looking pillows. :: le sigh ::
Consider the following when you arrange a room:
– Do you have pets? Are they allowed on furniture? Do they have manners?
– Do you have kids? Young enough to bump their heads? Old enough to pretend a vase is a football?
-How do you want people to feel when they enter your house? Like they can kick off their shoes and sit down, or like they should tighten up their tie a bit?
Owning a home is so, so much more then just painting walls and putting furniture out. Buying a home means you’ve invested 30 years of your paycheck into a place of your very own, and you deserve to make a statement. But make sure the statement you make is the right one.
For the month of October, I will be participating in The Nester’s 31 day challenge.
